Join us for a week of hands-on service, community, and spiritual growth at Red Bird Mission in southeastern Kentucky. This mission experience invites youth to partner with a community that has been doing life-giving ministry in Appalachia for over 100 years. Together, we’ll serve alongside Red Bird staff and volunteers on home repair and community projects—things like painting, building ramps, light construction, and other practical work that makes a real difference in people’s daily lives.
Throughout the week, we’ll worship, reflect, and build relationships—both within our group and with the wider Red Bird community. This trip is about showing up with humility, learning from our neighbors, and practicing faith through service and solidarity. (Here's an example of the typical schedule.)
This trip is open to up to 8 students who are rising 9th graders through those who have just completed 12th grade. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Transportation will be provided from Linworth UMC for registered students.
The suggested donation for this mission experience is $600, with a payment schedule as follows:
- $100 deposit upon registration
- $100 due April 15th
- $200 due May 15th
- $200 due June 1st
Sponsor letters will also be sent out on behalf of students to offset costs from the church between time of registration and May 15th. Scholarships are available for those who may need them. Please reach out to shelby@linworthumc.org with any questions or concerns!
